Secrets Akumal
I had the pleasure of planning Sarah and Kevin’s destination wedding in Akumal, Mexico. We had over a year of planning. This allowed us to pick the perfect resort and date and not feel rushed through the process.
Sarah was one of my most relaxed clients. She cared about the details and had a clear vision that she wanted for her wedding but she truly seemed to relax and enjoy the process.
The couple wanted an Adults Only resort and after considering several options, we settled on Secrets Akumal Resort and Spa in Akumal, Mexico. The amazing beach was definitely a big part of the reason to choose this lovely resort. The couple had a beach wedding in front of their loved ones, and everyone shook maracas that had the words “Shake at the kiss” written on them when Sarah and Kevin shared their first kiss.
This was the 2nd destination wedding I had planned for the family of the groom. Since the previous wedding I had planned, there were a few people that were not with them on this beautiful day. To remember them I had a memorial table with photos and cempazuchitl flowers (also know as marigolds) traditionally used at Day of the Dead altars.
Sarah wanted a simple bouquet of only white flowers. Her bridesmaids picked their own dresses in neutral shades of browns, taupe and copper. For the welcome party we asked all of the guests to wear white.
The wedding reception was laid back and intimate. Wood guest tables, low floral arrangements and neutral tones throughout. The guests enjoyed a dessert buffet and then lots of dancing.
One of my favorite parts was the smoke bomb photo that we added to the timeline a couple days before the wedding. Photographer Pipe Gaber and his team artfully captured all of the details and events of the wedding.
